A Virtual Art Quilting Class

Inspired by Picasso’s etchings and Matisse’s cutouts we will play, tell stories and create our own works of art. Learn transfer techniques, appliqué, quilting, trapunto, hand and machine stitching. Begin by making patterns. Then, using appliqué and collage, PLAY, EXPLORE, fuse, embroider and “draw” by hand and/or machine. Add stories. Use your own drawings or those of your childrens’ or grandchildrens’. Have fun and apply these techniques to compose colorful works of art for the wall, as table runners, pillows- whatever you can imagine!

This class is for adults and children ages 12 and up. A great opportunity for parents or grandparents to transform their children’s drawings into textile art.

Gina has been a professional artist for over 20 years. She authored a sewing column entitled "Sew Easy", for a local newspaper, taught sewing and sewing machine instruction for adults and children at the Singer Sewing Company and in private and public schools, bringing a rich background to the table. Gina loves creating art on fabric with needles, thread, crayons, pens- actually the sky is the limit.   She finds it meditative and challenging.    She also created “Kids Art on Quilts,” to preserve her favorite kids’ drawings. (see Isabel’s “Me & My Horse” below).
